Why Hibret
Hibret exists to encourage and grow Christian fellowship: inside each church, and between Ethiopian churches in Ethiopia and wherever Ethiopians live. Sunday is one day. Fellowship is every day.
What your church gets
The Fellowship feed
Posts, photos and encouragement from your church family. Amen, Love and Praise God, and more: a cake for a birthday, a dove for comfort. Share with everyone on Hibret, and follow other churches and people to see what they share.
Burdens (ሸክም)
"Bear one another's burdens" (Galatians 6:2). Ask for practical help, a ride, a meal, a hand on moving day, and members near you see it first.
Prayer
Ask the whole church, or only the pastors, to pray. Press "Praying for you" and share the answers as testimonies.
This Sunday
The coming service on the home page: the time, the place, the sermon topic, the preacher and the Bible passages.
Events and the calendar
Retreats, weddings, youth nights: members answer "Will you come?" and see everything in a month calendar, with Ethiopian dates too. Online events show "Live now" with the video or a Join button.
Sermons and the live service
Watch the service live, and find past sermons by topic, preacher or Bible passage, with video or audio. After a live event, its recording goes into the library with one tap. Members get a notification on their phone when the service starts.
The Bible
Read in Amharic and English inside Hibret, and in Afaan Oromoo and Tigrinya from bible.com. Tap any verse in a post or sermon to read it.
Sermon notes
Take notes during the sermon with the Bible passages open beside them, fill in the blanks of the weekly bulletin, and read them again during the week.
Pictures made with AI
Hibret describes a picture for your event or news, you change the words if you like, and AI paints it. Share it as a flyer on WhatsApp and Telegram. AI also helps you write: press Improve under a post, a prayer request or news.
Groups and chat
Youth, choir, women's and men's groups, each with its own chat and its own picture.
Who's Who
The church directory with photos and families. Each person decides what others see.
Giving
How to give to the church, always at hand: bank account, mobile money, Zelle, Interac and more.

A second feed with what churches and members share with everyone: conferences, worship nights, sermons and testimonies. Follow churches and people, and help churches in your city carry their burdens.
Help near you
Members choose their area once. A burden says where help is needed, and members who live near get an email and see "near you, about 4 km". Addresses are never shown.
Checked before it is shared
Hibret checks new posts, photos and links. A dangerous link is refused; anything doubtful waits for the church staff. Links show the site's name, and YouTube videos play inside the post.
Safe Sunday school check-in
Parents check their children in at the door or on their phone. Each family gets a code, only the people the parents named can take a child home, and Hibret notes who took each child. A teacher can call a parent during class.
Sermon slides
Make the sermon slides in Hibret and show them on the projector. Change the slide from your phone. Members follow the slides on their own phone and save a slide to their notes.
Safe member approval
New members are confirmed by people who know them ("Do you know them?"), then the church staff approve them. Families are linked, so parents and children belong together.
Classes
Sunday school, music and Bible study classes: parents enroll their children, teachers take attendance, parents see their child’s. The class times are on the class page, on the Ethiopian or the Western clock.
Files to download
Attach the program, a form or the yearly report to news, events, sermons and groups. Members download them.
Surveys
Ask the whole church or one class. Members answer in the app, named or anonymous; you see the results and download them for Excel.
A screen for Sunday
Show the sermon slides, your news, the coming events and the ways to give on the projector or a TV, with a QR code on each slide.
News for many churches
Christian organisations and churches can ask Hibret to share a conference or a worship night with many churches at once. Hibret checks it first, and members see who it comes from.
